What is Rukh, and its counterpart Black Rukh who is the king of Balbadd who are the Magi, especially Yunnan what is the relationship between the kingdoms I firmly believe Sinbad is best experienced when you already know the answer to these. Same with the writing – it slowly draws the viewer in, answering the questions which arise (possibly too often – the question “what are Magis” is asked and answered three or four times over different episodes). As such, it takes particular care to present a brand new world to the viewer the pacing is of a first entry in a new series. Labyrinth was written as the first series. However, having just seen the Magi series, I’m happy to report that’s not the case here.
And yes, it is not unheard of for some series or OVAs to be released too soon in regards to what else is happening (what immediately comes to mind is the second OVA of Noragami, which was released before the second season but takes place after it, or at least its midpoint, and drops tons of bombshells on unsuspecting viewers). Yes, chronologically prequels happen first. Regarding your “proper watching order”, I understand your reasoning, and it makes sense, but I’d like to propose an alternate take which I believe makes even more sense if you consider the writing and pacing of the shows: watching Labyrinth and Kingdom first, then watching Sinbad.
