Puella Magi Tart Magica: The Legend of Jeanne d'Arc.Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion.Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Homura's Revenge!.Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Different Story.Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: The Innocent Malice.I would reccommend watching Sinbad AFTER the main show. Beware, however, if that is the ONLY argument to be made, and if it is overpowered by other arguments. There is a good argument to be made for watching something chronologically. Suzumiya Haruhi I DID watch (I even watched the endless eight in full, and though I won’t be doing it again I’m glad I did), and I figure watching it chronologically would throw the pacing off. I have not yet watched Monogatari, but I’m frequently informed it’s not a pleasant experience watching it chronologically.

That’s not always desirable in every series but it’s sometimes even less desirable to watch things chronologically. Nothing wrong of that I would just like for your opinion to have, in its comments section, a footnote such as this, indicating that there are alternative persuasive arguments to watch the series in the order it was released. So someone who is looking for the answer is likely to see your opinion first.

But I feel it is not sufficiently powerful when considered alongside the way the series is written, and how immensely enjoyable it is to discover the world of Magi with Labyrinth (which was made to be the first, and therefore took great care in drawing viewers in) and then to go back and see how Sinbad became the man we get to know later (as well as the others, though I still want to know the full story about Drakken and Judal!).Īlso, as it happens, in a google search your opinion is highly rated and highly visible. You only offer the “chronological” argument. In fact, Sinbad is written as an origins story, it assumes you already know how it’s all going to play out in the end. What is Rukh, and its counterpart Black Rukh who is the king of Balbadd who are the Magi, especially Yunnan what is the relationship between the kingdoms I firmly believe Sinbad is best experienced when you already know the answer to these. Same with the writing – it slowly draws the viewer in, answering the questions which arise (possibly too often – the question “what are Magis” is asked and answered three or four times over different episodes). As such, it takes particular care to present a brand new world to the viewer the pacing is of a first entry in a new series. Labyrinth was written as the first series. However, having just seen the Magi series, I’m happy to report that’s not the case here.
And yes, it is not unheard of for some series or OVAs to be released too soon in regards to what else is happening (what immediately comes to mind is the second OVA of Noragami, which was released before the second season but takes place after it, or at least its midpoint, and drops tons of bombshells on unsuspecting viewers). Yes, chronologically prequels happen first. Regarding your “proper watching order”, I understand your reasoning, and it makes sense, but I’d like to propose an alternate take which I believe makes even more sense if you consider the writing and pacing of the shows: watching Labyrinth and Kingdom first, then watching Sinbad. Thank you for reading our post on Magi watching order, and if you have any questions feel free to leave a comment.
And, Magi: Sinbad no Bouken will give you a better understanding of the mechanisms behind Magi world setting. If you’re interested in the Magi series, you will definitely enjoy the first two seasons. Following it is Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic that has some awesome fighting scenes. Therefore, watching it will give you a better understanding of what kind of a world Magi is. The story happens few years before 2nd season starts and follows the legend of Sinbad of the Seven Season. Therefore I would recommend watching Sinbad no Bouken before Labyrinth of Magic and Kingdom of Magic. Magi: Sinbad no Bouken is a prequel to the first two seasons.
